| Tonight I went to see “The Hills have Eyes” and I would love to share my movie going experience with all of you. FYI, I will be giving away some parts of the movie, but I don’t care because I hope you don’t see it!
First, let me explain what I thought the basis of the movie was before I saw it…It’s about a group of people who lived in an area where the government tested atomic bombs back in the 60’s. Well I guess you could say it’s about the children they had and the effects the radiation had on them. So the movie starts and right away four people were stabbed with an ax, attached to chains, and pulled from behind a truck into a “cave” in the desert. I actually thought this movie had a plot or some type of message behind it. It didn’t, well it might have but I left an hour into it and got my money back.
Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE scary movies. But classic scary movies like Psycho, When a Stranger calls (the original), The Halloween series (not including the last two), Alien, Christine, Amityville Horror (the original), Poltergeist, Carrie, you get the point. Now some of these movies show some blood, but they do not even compare to the movies that are out now. I left “The Hills have Eyes” during a scene where the family dog was gutted, the father was tied to a tree and burned alive while the mom, sis, son, and son-in-law watched in horror, unable to do anything, all while the other sister was being raped by a guy who just bit off the head of the family bird so that he could suck out the insides. COME ON!!!!
Did any of you see Hostile? I didn’t but my friend said that it was a movie about men who paid women to lure guy’s home with them offering sex, but instead they were tortured! That’s it! The movie was ONLY about people being tortured! Why do they make movies like this…I KNOW…because people actually want to see stuff like this. People like scary movies because of the adrenalin rush and the feeling of being scared that most of us will never have to feel in real life, but now you pay $8.00 to see someone being gutted like a fish, burned alive, eaten alive, or have their limbs cut off only to bleed to death. Am I the only one a little disturbed by this? I can understand someone wanting to see a scary movie, but not a movie that shows nothing but violence, blood, death, and HORRIBLE pain. I’m not just saying a little but they show things in the movies that we all pray to god never happens to us or anyone we know. But yet people can’t stay out of the theaters!
The next time you see a horror flick look at the people around you. Some look normal, like the cute couple on the first date who are only seeing a scary movie because they can get “close” without stepping over the line…I give them 30mins before their making out. What about the guy in the corner by himself? I’m sorry but the second I see him or her taking notes, I’m gone! And why is it that it’s illegal in this country to kill people, but yet the average Joe can watch it over and over again at the local theater.
Ok sorry for the sermon. The point is do not go see “The Hills have Eyes.” It’s seriously not worth your time. BUT if you are someone who is dying to go see a bloody horror film that is ONLY based on torturing people, then please get some professional help!!! That is it…I hope you all have a safe weekend! I’m now going to watch Dumb and Dumber to help get the insane images out of my head! |
